Formed in 1989 Retirement Services Australia was the retirement village vehicle for Melbourne property developer, Clinton Casey. His forte was luxury resorts. His approach to retirement targeted self-funded and the active retiree with quality service and luxury in mind.

The Group’s flagship retirement village business was composed of 15 stand-alone villages, totalling 1,200 units under management with a diversified portfolio of retirement villas, self-contained apartments and serviced apartments, all managed by an experienced staff of 400 people.

In 2005 the company went through the process of planning a public listing with Macquarie bank as adviser. It planned an alliance with Macquarie with plans to grow nationally. Other shareholders include JGL Investments, the vehicle of Melbourne's Liberman family. Ten months later it was acquired by Macquarie bank.
